2024.03.15
KT&G Sangsangmadang is recruiting participants for the 15th KT&G SKOPF (Sangsangmadang Korean Photographer’s Fellowship), a support program for Korean photographers, until the 24th.
Celebrating its 15th edition this year, KT&G SKOPF has been operated by KT&G Sangsangmadang since 2008 to discover and foster emerging photographers. It has produced approximately 50 artists so far, establishing itself as a gateway for emerging photographers.
Prospective participants can submit application forms, work plans, portfolios, and other required documents through the official KT&G Sangsangmadang website by the 24th. The judging process will be conducted in three stages, with cultural and arts experts participating in the evaluation.
Through the first round of portfolio evaluation, presentations on artworks, and in-depth interviews in the second round, three "Photographers of the Year" will be selected in May. Following that, a public portfolio evaluation will be held to select the "Best Photographer of the Year" in December.
The three "Photographers of the Year" will each receive approximately 6 million won in activity support funds, mentoring, and opportunities to participate in group exhibitions. The individual selected as the "Best Photographer of the Year" will receive benefits including activity support funds worth 9 million won, as well as support for artwork production, publishing, and solo exhibitions.
Kim Jung-yoon, Head of the Exhibition Department at KT&G Cultural Contribution Division, stated, "KT&G SKOPF is designed to discover emerging photographers with the potential to lead the Korean photography scene," adding, "We will continue to support sustainable development in the cultural and arts sector and foster emerging artists."
Meanwhile, KT&G Sangsangmadang is a multi-cultural arts space that supports the creative activities of emerging artists and provides diverse cultural experiences to the public. Since its inception with "Sangsangmadang Hongdae" in 2007, it has expanded to a total of five locations including Nonsan, Chuncheon, Daechi, and Busan, contributing to the expansion of cultural and regional development. Sangsangmadang receives approximately 3 million visitors annually and operates over 3,000 cultural and arts programs each year.
