In anticipation of the March 1st Independence Movement Day, KT&G (CEO Baek Bok-In) conducted a cemetery beautification activity at the Daejeon National Cemetery on the 28th to honor the spirit of sacrifice of the patriots and to reflect on the significance of the independence movement.

On this day, around 20 KT&G employees and executives visited the independence activists' section at the Daejeon National Cemetery, commencing their volunteer activities with a moment of silence. The volunteer group engaged in beautification activities around the cemetery, including weeding, trash collection, and cleaning the grave markers, thereby honoring the contributions of the independence activists and fostering a spirit of patriotism.

Additionally, in celebration of the March 1st Independence Movement Day, KT&G installed large Taegeukgi (Korean national flag) banners and pinwheels at KT&G Sangsang Madang Nonsan and Chuncheon, further commemorating the day's significance.

KGC Ginseng Corporation, a subsidiary of KT&G, continues to support independence activists and their descendants by donating health products, including red ginseng.

A KT&G representative expressed, "As a corporate citizen, KT&G has been actively engaging in various social contributions and mutual growth activities to fulfill its social responsibilities and contribute to the development of South Korea. Under the management philosophy of ‘a company that grows together,’ KT&G will continue its unique social contribution activities and strive to contribute to the national economic and social development."

Originating from ‘Sunhwaguk,’ the first national tobacco company established in 1883 by independence activist Kim Gajin, KT&G has maintained its position as the leading tobacco company in Korea for over 140 years. Based on its historical significance, KT&G has been continuously engaging in activities to raise social awareness about the independence movement and to promote patriotism.
