KT&G (CEO Baek Bok-In) announced the winners of the ‘2024 Sangsang Live Practice Room’ competition on the 27th, aimed at discovering and supporting emerging musicians.

The ‘Sangsang Live Practice Room’ is a cultural arts program operated by ‘KT&G Sangsang Madang Busan’ since 2020, annually discovering artists through competitions and providing them with musician training and live performance opportunities.

This year's ‘2024 Sangsang Live Practice Room’ competition saw applications from a total of 31 teams, with 6 teams selected through evaluations by experts, including major indie label representatives. These teams will participate in a new musician training program starting March 4th, offering various trainings necessary for performance over five weeks. A final performance will be held on April 7th at the KT&G Sangsang Madang Busan Live Hall.

The top 3 teams selected at the final performance will be awarded prize money and given the opportunity to perform at 'Sangsang Madang Hongdae,' with the ultimate winning team also earning the chance to perform on the stage of the Busan International Rock Festival.

Kim Cheon-beom, the head of the Performance Division at KT&G's Cultural Contributions Department, stated, “Through the ‘Sangsang Live Practice Room,’ we have discovered a total of 55 teams of artists so far. Sangsang Madang will continue to support talented musicians who are not yet known to the public, so they can perform in front of an audience.”

Meanwhile, KT&G Sangsang Madang is a multi-cultural arts space that supports the creative activities of emerging artists and offers the public a wide range of cultural experiences. Since launching 'Sangsang Madang Hongdae' in 2007, it operates in a total of five locations, including Nonsan, Chuncheon, Daechi, and Busan, contributing to the expansion of the cultural and arts base and regional cultural development. Sangsang Madang welcomes about 3 million visitors annually, with over 3,000 cultural and arts programs operated each year.
