KT&G Sangsangmadang is hosting an exhibition at the Sangsangmadang Hongdae Gallery until March 2nd, showcasing the works of graduates from the 14th cohort of the emerging photographers academy 'KT&G SLAP (Sangsangmadang Life Art Photographers).'

KT&G SLAP' is an educational program of the 'Sangsangmadang Academy' operated by KT&G Sangsangmadang since 2008 for the discovery and nurturing of emerging photographers. To date, it has produced over 160 photographers. The program supports systematic education through photography theory and production lectures, as well as mentoring from currently active photographers. Additionally, graduates of the program are offered the opportunity to participate in exhibitions held at the Sangsangmadang Hongdae Gallery.

The 14th cohort of 'KT&G SLAP' ran for five months from September last year to January this year. Photographers Kim Seong-soo and Kim Seung-gu, who were selected as 'Photographer of the Year' in 2015 and 2018 respectively in the 'KT&G SKOPF' photographer support program, participated as mentors. Moreover, a special lecture was given by photographer Mo Ji-woong, who, after completing the 4th cohort of 'KT&G SLAP,' won the national documentary photography award 'Onbit Photo Award' in 2017. The 8 artists graduating from the 14th cohort are presenting over 80 works in this exhibition, featuring a diverse representation of subjects including people, landscapes, and objects.

Kim Jung-yoon, the head of the Exhibition Division at KT&G's Cultural Contributions Department, said, "We planned the 'KT&G SLAP' 14th exhibition to support the first steps of emerging photographers and to lay the groundwork for their growth as artists. We plan to continue taking the lead in discovering and nurturing new artists through the operation of educational programs in various cultural and arts fields, including culture, fine arts, video, drawing, and photography."

Meanwhile, KT&G Sangsangmadang is a multi-cultural arts space that supports the creative activities of emerging artists and offers a broad cultural experience to the public. Since the opening of 'Sangsangmadang Hongdae' in 2007, it has expanded to operate in a total of five locations, including Nonsan, Chuncheon, Daechi, and Busan, contributing to the expansion of the cultural and arts base and regional cultural development. Sangsangmadang receives about 3 million visitors annually, and over 3,000 cultural and arts programs are operated each year.
