654 KT&G Social Welfare Foundation Allocates 850 Million Won for Heating Costs to Support Energy-Vulnerable Households 2024.01.19
The KT&G Social Welfare Foundation is committing 850 million won to support households struggling with heating expenses during the winter, specifically targeting the energy-vulnerable sector.

In response to the hardships face by low-income families due to the recent cold wave and the surge in heating costs, the KT&G Social Welfare Foundation has provided heating cost support to approximately 3,400 households in Seoul and the metropolitan area since last year. Selected beneficiaries will receive 250,000 won per household for heating expenses until March.

The KT&G Social Welfare Foundation has been annually disbursing funds for heating fuel and city gas expenses to energy-vulnerable households. This initiative, ongoing since 2005, marks its 20th year and is part of the foundation's continuous support programs for the underprivileged. To date, the cumulative amount provided in support totals about 12.37 billion won.

A KT&G Social Welfare Foundation representative expressed, “We hope our assistance provides some relief to those neighbors in the vulnerable sector who are experiencing difficulties due to the rise in electricity and gas prices.” He added, “We will continue to engage in charitable activities for those in need through sustained attention to the marginalized communities.”

The KT&G Social Welfare Foundation, established by KT&G in 2003 to communicate with the community and fulfill corporate social responsibility, operates eight welfare centers nationwide. These centers provide localized welfare services and actively solve social problems by supporting low-income, marginalized groups and social welfare facilities, thereby practicing sharing and contributing to the community.
