KT&G SangSangmadang Hongdae is publicly accepting ‘2023 Design Challenge’ entries to discover future designers until July 16.

The 'Design Challenge', which is being held for the 10th time this year, is a cultural contribution program run by KT&G since 2013 to revitalize the design industry through discovering and nurturing new designers.

With the theme of ‘Illustration that brings good luck’, that is ‘SPREAD YOUR ♧(FORTUNE) MESSAGE’, this contest is conducted for illustrations such as illustrations, cartoons, and characters with original designs that can convey a message of good luck to the public. Any creators with creative ideas that fit the theme of the contest can participate after uploading the contest to the applicant's Instagram account, and by using the keywords ' SangSangmadang Design Challenge' and 'luck' as a hashtag. Details on the contest can be found on the Sangsangmadang website ( www.sangsangmadang.com ).

The submitted works will be open to the public through the KT&G Sangsangmadang Design Challenge Instagram account (@ssmd_challenge), and the winning piece will be announced in August through on/offline voting. The top two selected teams are provided with prize money, KT&G SangSangmadang Hongdae pop-up exhibition, design square entry, and opportunities to produce limited edition goods in collaboration with ceramic artists.

An official from KT&G said, “KT&G will provide various support so that potential new designers can grow into competitive artists through meeting with SangSangmadang Hongdae”, and added, 'we plan to continue providing practical support so that domestic brands can realize their dreams on a bigger stage in the future.”

Meanwhile, KT&G Sangsangmadang has supported the creative activities of emerging artists and provided a wide range of cultural experiences to the public. Starting with ‘SangSangmadang Hongdae’ in 2007, Sangsangmadang was introduced in Nonsan, Chuncheon, Daechi-dong, and Busan, and currently, it has grown into a cultural mecca with 2 million annual visitors and 3,000 cultural and artistic programs every year.
