666 KT&G Opens Second ‘KT&G Korean Language Institute’ in India and Kazakhstan 2023.06.07
KT&G (CEO Baek Bok-in) has opened the 'KT&G Korean Language Institute' in Almaty, the largest city in Kazakhstan, a Central Asian country.

The opening ceremony of the Almaty 'KT&G Korean Language Institute' was held on June 3rd, attended by Lee Sang-hak, Head of KT&G Sustainability Management Division (Vice President), Park Nae-cheon, Consul General of the Republic of Korea in Almaty, and Ra Jong-eok, Director of the Institute of Unification Culture, among others.

Currently, there are over 100,000 descendants of Korean immigrants who migrated from the Maritime Province of Siberia to Central Asia in 1937 residing in Kazakhstan. KT&G plans to strengthen global talent development through Korean language education and scholarships for Korean dispora overseas and Kazakhs through the establishment of the 'Korean Language Institute.' 

Previously, in 2014, KT&G established the first 'KT&G Korean Language Institute' in Indonesia, offering Korean language education to over 2,800 students to date. In 2017, KT&G established 'Sangsang Univ Jakarta' in Indonesia, supporting cultural and artistic experiences and capacity development activities for local university students, taking the lead in promoting Korean culture.

Lee Sang-hak, Vice President of KT&G, said, "As a global corporate citizen, the company has been actively engaged in various social contribution activities in countries such as Indonesia and Turkey," and added, "Through the newly established 'KT&G Korean Language Institute' in Kazakhstan, we will make efforts to bridge the two countries and enhance mutual exchange and friendship."
