KT&G (CEO Baek Bok-in) strengthened its commitment to its ethical management by participating in the Pledge Ceremony of CEOs for the Best ESG, sponsored by the Institute for Industrial Policy Studies (IPS) and hosted by the Best ESG Forum.

On April 20, the Pledge Ceremony of the Best ESG was hosted at the Ahn Junggeun Memorial Museum in Namsan, Seoul under the subtitle of ‘All entrepreneurs should become a CEO (Chief Ethics Officer). 112 officials from corporations, civic groups, and academia, including Lee Sang-hak, Vice-President and Chief Director of KT&G Sustainability Management, attended the ceremony and pledged to practice ethical management.

KT&G is making efforts to strengthen ethical management at the level of the group companies by declaring the KT&G Group Ethics Charter last year, which accommodates the global business expansion, the advancement of the ESG management, and other changed business circumstances.

Moreover, to help its ethical management become established, the company provides ethical training for executive officers and employees at least once a year, and all executives and employees participate in its ethical management through the pledge and practices of ethical management.

In addition, for fair trade, KT&G is inducing partner companies to participate in ethical management and fair transactions by attaching special terms for ethical practices when entering into an agreement with a partner company. The company is making efforts to allow ethical management to take root by administering a channel on the website where unethical behavior may be reported.

According to Lee Sang-hak, the Chief Director of KT&G Sustainability Management, “Reinforcing ethical management is a prerequisite for sustainable growth as a global corporate citizen.” “The company will take the initiative of its ethical management by fulfilling its corporate responsibilities at our workplace and throughout the entire value chain, including the manufacturing, the distribution, and the sales,” he said.
