KT&G Provides Urgent Aid of $300 Million for Turkey Earthquake Damage 2023.02.10
KT&G (CEO Baek Bok-in) has provided KRW 300 million in emergency aid to help earthquake victims in Turkey and quickly repair the damage.

This donation will be delivered to the Korean Red Cross and used for relief supplies and early damage repair to assist earthquake victims in Turkey in their recovery.

The relief donation was taken from the 'Sangsang Fund,' a collection of voluntary donations made by KT&G employees. The Sangsang Fund is KT&G's unique social contribution fund that was established in 2011. When executives and employees donate a certain portion of their monthly salary, the company matches the donation. The funds are used to support the underprivileged at home and abroad and to address pressing social issues.

The head of the KT&G Social Contribution Office, Shim Young-ah, stated, "I hope that the earthquake-stricken region of Turkey can be restored as soon as possible and that the victims can return to their normal lives." “As a global corporate citizen, we will continue to focus on countries in need and strive to fulfill our social responsibilities,” he added.

Over the past decade, KT&G has donated a total of KRW 7.3 billion to support disaster recovery at home and abroad, including a typhoon in the Philippines in 2013, an earthquake in Nepal in 2015, an earthquake in Indonesia in 2018, forest fires in Uljin and Samcheok last year, and flood damage throughout Korea.
