KT&G Welfare Foundation supports KRW 850 million worth of heating cost support to the vulnerable social groups 2023.02.07
The KT&G Welfare Foundation will provide KRW 850 million for the energy-vulnerable suffering from heating costs this winter.

Since November last year, the KT&G Welfare Foundation has supported heating costs worth KRW 650 million to 3,300 households of vulnerable social groups in Seoul and the metropolitan area. In addition to this, to lower the concerns of vulnerable society groups who have been burdened with fuel costs due to the recent increase in public rates, including gas, they have decided to pay an additional KRW 200 million this winter, supporting a total of KRW 850 million for heating costs this winter.

The increased KRW 200 million will be used to pay an additional KRW 100,000 in heating costs to households in need of emergency support among existing recipients. The recipients selected earlier will continue to use the support amount as planned, within the limit of KRW 200,000  per household until March.

The KT&G Welfare Foundation has been providing heating fuel and city gas fees every year to low-income families who have difficulty heating due to economic difficulties during the cold winter. This is a support project for the vulnerable society that has been going on for 19 years from 2005 to this year, and the cumulative amount of support including this time is about KRW 11 billion.

An official from the KT&G Welfare Foundation said, “While many people are suffering from the recent heating cost crisis, I hope this support will be of some help to the vulnerable society groups who are having a colder winter.”, and “We will continue to strive to improve the quality of life as well as improve energy welfare for the underprivileged through various sharing activities.”

Meanwhile, the KT&G Welfare Foundation is a foundation established by KT&G in 2003 to communicate with the local community and fulfill its corporate social responsibility, and provides community-based welfare services through eight welfare centers nationwide. In addition, it is actively participating in solving social problems by practicing sharing with neighbors in need and local communities such as low-income underprivileged people and social welfare facilities.
