KT&G to Innovate Corporate Culture with the Generation of 2030... Introduction of the Second ‘Sangsang Junior Board’ 2022.06.02
On the 31st, KT&G (CEO Baek Bok-in) hosted the 2nd launch ceremony of the 'Sangsang Junior Board,' which will lead organizational culture innovation on behalf of the 2030 generation of employees, at its Seoul headquarters.

The "Sangsang Junior Board" is an organizational culture improvement council that listens to the views of young members and facilitates communication with the management in order to create a positive work environment. Through an internal contest, ten individuals from national organizations such as headquarters, sales, and manufacturing were chosen for the 2nd "Sangsang Junior Board.” The members will represent the generation of 2030 in their respective fields for the next ten months as "leaders" who diagnose organizational culture and drive innovation.

Specifically, this second period assumes the initiative in fostering a "Culture of Diversity and Inclusion" (D&I) that recognizes the value of individuals across generations and positions. The goal is to create an advanced organizational culture in which members respect one another and fully express their individual abilities.

KT&G has been at the forefront of communication management since 2015, when it began operating the "Sangsang Realization Committee," the birthplace of the "Sangsang Junior Board.” In order to strengthen communication with the 2030 generation, the company's future growth engine, the company launched the "Sangsang Junior Board" last year. In the initial phase of the 'Sangsang Junior Board,' diverse employee opinions were reflected in active communication with management. This has improved the organizational culture by enabling flexible work, bolstering psychological care for employees, and implementing the 'Today's Leader' program, which suggests leadership styles suited to contemporary trends.

A KT&G representative stated, "KT&G's organizational culture is the result of what we have created with our employees to strengthen the company's fundamental competitiveness." He went on to say, "In the future, we intend to actively reflect the ideas of our employees and to create an inclusive organizational culture where all members are valued.”

In recognition of its achievements in communicating with employees and innovating organizational culture, the Ministry of Employment and Labor has designated KT&G as a "2020 Work-Life Balance Excellent Company" and one "Korea's Best Place to work in 2021". In 2015, the company was awarded "Family-Friendly Excellent Company" certification by the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family and was recertified in 2020.
