2021.10.14
KT&G (CEO Bok-In Baek) is hosting the “4th Over the Rainbow”, a creative art exhibition by disabled artists at the KT&G Sangsang Madang Hongdae Gallery from October 14th to 31st. It will then continue its touring exhibition at the Sangsang Madang Busan Gallery (November 5th to 21st) and Sangsang Madang Chuncheon Art Gallery (November 25th to December 12th).
The 4th annual exhibition “Over the Rainbow” supports disabled artists in their creative activities and presents their works to the public. This year’s exhibition with its title “Nevertheless, Love” spreads a hopeful message of love despite the COVID-19 pandemic era.
A total of 12 artists were selected and around 120 art pieces of their 2D and 3D works showing their various perspectives will be featured. Unlike the past exhibitions focusing on visual images and letters, the “4th Over the Rainbow” exhibition this year will have the braille codes accompanied in each printing and all videos will be played with sign languages and subtitles in a “barrier-free” environment. Furthermore, to comply with the COVID-19 regulations and ensure a pleasant environment for visitors, visitors will have QR-code and body temperature checks upon entry, and the on-site use of face masks and hand sanitizers along with a limited capacity will be strictly enforced.
“The exhibition ‘4th Over the Rainbow’ was designed to assist the disabled artists in communicating with the world through art and to eliminate discrimination on disability,” says Young-Ah Sim, head of KT&G’s Social Contribution Office. She added, “Since this year’s exhibition adopts a ‘barrier-free’ environment where both disabled and non-disabled people can come all together and enjoy it, we hope to deliver a meaningful experience for many visitors.”
