KT&G to Dispatch ‘Hope-Boosting Correspondents’ in Cambodia

       - 900 volunteers made 31trips since 2005. Two-week volunteer work planned in 2015

 

KT&G will dispatch ‘Cambodia Overseas Volunteer Group’ made of undergraduate students to Cambodia until July 27, 2015.
  
The Group has 40 students. It is made of 20 volunteers from KT&G Welfare Centre, 10 students of Korea National Police University, and another 10 members of ‘Correspondents to Cambodia Hope’ selected via public audition in May. 

 

The team will carry out volunteer work including building or renovating schools and providing personal hygiene class with NGOs on site in Siem Reap in Cambodia. The team also will provide a variety of cultural experience to Cambodian students, prepared by the volunteers themselves as a way of talent donation .

 

KT&G has sent a total sum of 880 volunteers who made 31 trips to Cambodia since 2005. The company donated education facilities by building floating preschools on the water and libraries.

 

KT&G official said, “Cambodia is a developing country suffering from the aftermath of long-lasted civil war. For future development, the investment in education is the upmost essential area where support is requred. I hope KT&G’s support over the last ten years may sow seed for the new hope in Cambodia”.

 

KT&G has provided medical support in Cambodia, Uzbekistan, and Mongolia as well. The company has actively acted for the benefit of international society. For example, in Indonesia, the company has improved hosing environment in economically challenged area via ‘Sangsang Village’ contribution and established ‘Korean language center’ in Jakarta, which was the first case by a Korean company.
