KT&G – NH Sign MOU for Korean Agricultural Product Promotion and Social contribution
- Win-win partnership for local agricultural product promotion
- Establishment of strategic cooperation system including social contribution related to agricultural product 

 

June 22nd, KT&G and National Agricultural Cooperative Federation signed the Memorandum of Understanding for local agricultural production consumption promotion and expansion of social contribution. Young-jin Min, president of KT&G, and Sang-wook Lee, president of Agricultural Economy, NACF, attended the signing ceremony.

KT&G and NH became partners to help local farms and to provide a variety of CSR activities.

 

KT&G and NH will conduct various activities for the development of agriculture and farming area including 1) CSR activities related to local agricultural product, 2) promotion for local food consumption made of agricultural product, 3) prevention of unauthorized ginseng seed drain and co-development of farming technique 4) business development for high value agriculture
 
According to the MOU, KT&G Welfare Foundation will deliver ‘Sangsang Fruit Basket’ composed of local agricultural products to 530 local children centers from July on a monthly basis to provide unprivileged children with refreshments after school.

 

Differentiated from existing CSR programs which provides direct benefit such as volunteer work, donation of fund or daily necessities, KT&G and NH will improve children’s nutrition imbalance for healthier growth and provide a stable market for farmers via ‘Sangsang Fruit Basket’ program which provides local agricultural products for unprivileged children.

 

Youngjin Min, president of KT&G said, “The MOU will lead us to a new level of CRS for both beneficiaries and farmers. As a representative indigenous company, KT&G will enhance the role of leading CSR company through promoting local goods and local agricultural products.”
 
Songbook Lee, president of Agricultural Economy at NH said, “It’s time to help farmers with difficulties caused by imported agricultural products. I hope the MOU will promote the consumption of local agricultural product.”
