666 KT&G Donates KRW 200 Million for Nepal Recovery, hit by Earthquake 2015.04.29

KT&G (CEO: Young-jin Min) donates KRW 200 million to the Korea National Red Cross for prompt recovery and reconstruction of Nepal struck by earthquakes. Yungjin Pharm. Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of KT&G also will dispatch medicine and medical supplies as soon as possible.
 
KT&G held an urgent ‘Sangsang Fund Management Committee’ yesterday and concluded to promptly support Nepal considering the severance of the situation. KT&G employees voluntarily raised KRW 100 million and the Company prepared the matching account to make the total donation amounting to KRW 200 million. Based on the situation change, additional support including the dispatch of volunteer work team composed of KT&G employees will be also considered

 

Youngjin Min said, “We hope the people in Nepal can find hope themselves after terrifying earthquake and pains. KT&G will play a CSR role overseas as well, as a global corporation.”

 

By raising urgent donation funds, KT&G had donated to major catastrophe such as Japanese earthquake in 2011 and typhoon in the Philippines in 2013. The Company also has participated in overseas rescue and aid activities - dispatched student volunteer group to Cambodia in the form of ‘Correspondents to Cambodia Hope’ annually, and provided medical care and living environment improvement for the unprivileged in Indonesia. 

 

☞ Sangsang Fund
KT&G Sangsang Fund is a unique CSR fund raised by employees’ voluntary monthly donation and the Company with matching fund scheme which donates the exact amount prepared by its employees. The total asset under management amounts to KRW 350 million. The fund can be used with the consent of ‘Sangsang Fund Management Committee’, composed of the employees only.
