KT&G (CEO Kyung-man Bang) was re-accredited as an 'Excellent Workplace for Reading Management' by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism on the 7th.
The certification for an Excellent Workplace for Reading Management is granted to companies that enhance their employees' creativity by creating an internal reading environment and contribute to the sustainable spread of a reading culture. Since its first accreditation in 2017, KT&G has been continuously recognized as an excellent enterprise in reading management for eight consecutive years.
KT&G operates an open-type library called 'Sangsang Maru' within its headquarters, providing books to its employees and offering online education and book information. The company also provides a subscription-based audiobook service, creating an environment where reading is easily accessible.
In addition, KT&G encourages reading culture through various programs including a 'CEO Recommended Books' program where the CEO personally recommends books, as well as 'Book Review Contests' and 'Reading Club Support.' In July, the company also collaborated with the Ministry of Justice to establish libraries for juvenile detention center inmates and delivered donations for book purchases, taking a lead in establishing a shared reading culture with the community.
A KT&G representative stated, "We have nurtured creative talents and strengthened corporate competitiveness through the activation of internal reading culture," and added, "We will continue to provide our members with diverse reading opportunities and promote sustained growth through reading management."
