KT&G (CEO Baek Bok-In) is hosting a ‘Year-End Sharing Event’ valued at approximately 800 million won across the country to support underprivileged neighbors in having a warmer winter.
Since November, KT&G has been conducting the ‘Year-End Kimchi Sharing Event’ at various locations nationwide, including the Seoul Seongsu ‘KT&G Sangsang Planet,’ ‘KT&G Sangsang Madang Chuncheon and Busan’, factories, and regional sales offices. The company has conveyed warm regards to the marginalized communities in these regions by distributing 40 tons of kimchi, valued at 400 million won.
Additionally, KT&G is carrying out coal briquette distribution and winter supply donation events to support energy-vulnerable households during the winter. Through the employee participation volunteer activity ‘Coal Briquette Run,’ where employees donate coal briquettes accumulated based on their running distance, KT&G has delivered winter supplies, including coal briquettes, worth 400 million won to disadvantaged neighbors in various regions.
On the 5th of this month, KT&G employees conducted a sharing event by directly delivering coal briquettes to energy-vulnerable households in Baeksa Village, Nowon-gu, Seoul – the city's last hillside town. On the 6th, at ‘KT&G Sangsang Madang Nonsan,’ heating supplies were delivered to about 70 underprivileged households in the region, continuing a nationwide outreach of warmth and kindness.
The funds used for the Year-End Sharing Event were sourced from the ‘Sangsang Fund,’ a voluntary contribution from KT&G employees. Launched in 2011, the ‘Sangsang Fund’ is KT&G's social contribution fund, formed in a ‘Matching Grant’ manner, where the company matches the amount voluntarily donated by employees from their monthly salaries. This fund is utilized to support marginalized groups domestically and internationally and to address urgent social issues.
A KT&G official stated, “We conduct the Year-End Sharing Event annually to deliver warmth to neighbors who face hardships during the winter. We will continue to practice co-prosperity with the local community and persistently engage in activities to spread a culture of sharing.”
