KT&G contributes KRW 20 billion to ‘Win-win Cooperation Fund’ to help partner companies and tobacco farmers
KT&G (CEO Baek Bok-in) will contribute KRW 20 billion of ‘Win-Win Cooperation Fund’ to the Large/Small and Medium Sized Enterprises/Agricultural and Fishery Cooperation Foundation for win-win partnership with SME partners and tobacco farmers.
To this end, on the 22nd, KT&G and the Large/Small and medium sized enterprises/Agricultural and Fishery Cooperation Foundation held an agreement ceremony at the KT&G Seoul office in the presence of officials including KT&G vice president Lee Sang-hak and Kim Sun-cheol, secretary-general of the Large/Small and medium sized enterprises/Agricultural and Fishery Cooperation Foundation. With this agreement, KT&G will contribute 17 billion won and 3 billion won to the 'Large and Small and medium sized enterprises Win-Win Cooperation Fund' and “Agricultural and Fishery Cooperation Foundation”, respectively.
"The Large and Small and medium sized enterprises Win-Win Cooperation Fund is a fund contributed for win-win cooperation with small medium sized enterprises, and KT&G plans to provide support from various angles for win-win growth with partner companies, such as energy saving of partner companies, ESG consulting, and support for venture business commercialization.
In addition, the farming and fishing village win-win fund is a fund that promotes win-win partnership between farming and fishing villages and businesses, and through this fund, KT&G carries out various projects to promote welfare of tobacco farmers, such as farmer health check-ups, scholarships for children, and development of rural areas."
KT&G Vice President Lee Sang-hak said, “KT&G is conducting philanthropic activities focusing on authenticity and sustainability from a long-term perspective to create a foothold for growth together with society.” and “in the future, we plan to operate our business with a sense of responsibility by cooperating with society to make positive changes in our society.”
As such, KT&G regards 'win-win' with society as an important value, and it is conducting various CSR activities regarding this. The activities include 'Youth Start-up Support Project' such as 'Sangsang Start-up Camp' and 'Sangsang Planet' to solve youth job issues, and 'Sangsang Fund' that is a corporate Philanthropy fund that is voluntarily formed by the executives and employees to support the underprivileged and to solve urgent social problems. In addition, in order to fulfil its social responsibilities as a global corporate citizen, it is participating to resolve social problems such as education, housing, and the environment in countries where it operates its businesses and underdeveloped countries.
