KT&G (CEO Baek Bok-in) held a year-end kimchi sharing event on November 17 in Seongdong-gu, Seoul, where Sangsang Planet, a space to support start-ups for young people, is located, to help the underprivileged spend a warm winter.

A total of 30 attendees participated in the event, held at the Seongdong-gu Youth Support Center auditorium, including Lee Sang-hak, head of KT&G's Sustainability Management Division (Vice- President), Nam Kang-woo, director of the Welfare Bureau of Seongdong-gu Office, KT&G officers and employees, resident companies of Sangsang Planet, and volunteers at Seongdong-gu Youth Support Center and Seongdong House of Peace. 

900 kg of kimchi prepared by volunteers will be delivered to a total of 300 households, including single-person households who have difficulties preparing kimchi alone.

A KT&G official said, "In preparation for the upcoming winter season, we delivered kimchi to the underprivileged to spread a sharing culture." “We will continuously support activities actively to provide warmth to all sectors of the local community and to create a warm society,” he added.

Meanwhile, KT&G is strengthening the basis to support start-up companies of young people to nurture future generations. Sangsang Start-up Camp was hosted in 2017 to discover and develop young people who wish to start socially innovative companies, and in July of last year, Sangsang Planet opened in Social Venture Valley in Seongsu-dong, with 128 reserved seats and 24 independent offices. 

KT&G Sangsang Planet currently has an occupancy rate of over 90%, establishing itself as a representative youth start-up hub in Seoul. Tenants are building a virtuous cycle model of the start-up ecosystem by hiring additional employees through business expansion.
