KT&G hosts '2021 Sangsang Fashion Runway' with College Student Designers and Models
2021.11.08
KT&G (CEO Baek Bok-in) will hold the '5th Sangsang Fashion Runway, 2021' fashion show in which college students and local sewing craftspersons will participate together on November 10.
Started with the aim of contributing to the vitalization of the local community through collaboration with sewing craftspersons in Changsin-dong, the center of the Korean sewing industry, ‘Sangsang Fashion Runway’ has been providing college student designers and models with opportunities to stand in fashion shows since 2017.
This year's theme is 'Eco-friendly Fashion for the MZ Generation', and it is hosted by 'KT&G Sangsang Univ.' and sponsored by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Seoul Metropolitan Government. In July, KT&G Sangsang Univ. recruited college students in the two fields of design and modeling. After video interviews and video screening, 10 out of 62 teams who applied for the design field and 28 out of 72 applicants for the model field were finally selected. The finalists received training such as costume making and stage walking for the past three months.
The digital fashion show, the highlight of ‘2021 Sangsang Fashion Runway’, will be broadcast live from 7 pm on November 10 (Wednesday) through the ‘Sangsang Univ. Seoul’ YouTube channel. A total of 17 teams in the designer and model fields will be selected after final screening by famous Korean designers such as Jang Gwang-hyo. The selected teams will be awarded the Seoul Mayor's Award and scholarships.
Park Hyun-wook, head of KT&G's Univ. Operation Department, said, “I hope that the 'Sangsang Fashion Runway' will serve as an opportunity for college students who dream of becoming fashion designers and models to realize their dreams." He added, “We will continue to provide various programs to help college students pursue challenges and turn their imaginations into reality.”
‘KT&G Sangsang Univ. is a college student community that has been operated by KT&G since 2010 to provide college students with diverse experiences in culture, art, service, and career exploration. It has been operating field-oriented programs such as classes, festivals, and volunteer activities, and since last year, it has been strengthening non-contact programs such as the online 'Home Class', and the online contest 'Jiphyeonjeon’ in line with the social changes caused by COVID-19.
