KT&G (President Baek Bok-in) is holding the ‘2021 My First Concert’ event, which provides new musicians with an opportunity to grow. 

‘My First Concert’ is a program that selects talented new musicians and supports them in holding their first concert. Starting in 2015, the program is now in its 6th year. The program targets musicians who have never held a solo concert in a venue with more than 100 seats, or who have released their first full-length album but have not yet had a chance to perform solo.

Selected musicians are provided with support for renting the live hall at ‘KT&G Sangsang Madang Hongdae’ as well as help with performance promotion and marketing, In addition, KT&G provides support for profile photos that can be used after the performance as well as a live video recording of the performance.

This year, six teams with proven live performance skills and genre diversity were selected for the program following rigorous screening by experts.

The show runs from September to Thursday. On the 2nd and 16th, electronic music artist Park Jeong-hun and R&B singer-songwriter Nody Cika performed the stage. From next month, four-piece alternative rock band Penten (10/7), four-piece garage rock band Today Old Sneakers (11/4), four-piece punk rock band Far East Asia Tigers (11/18), and singer-songwriter Ha Beom-seok (11/25) will perform.

Park Jung-hoon, who was one of the first to participate in the program, says, "Personally, when preparing for a concert, the biggest concern is how I can deliver my music to more people." He added, "I was able to solve this part with 'My First Concert'.

Shim Yeong-ah, head of KT&G's Social Contribution Office, said, "This program is being continuously operated to support indie musicians who have not received much attention despite their sufficient capabilities." She added, "KT&G will continue to provide various benefits such as album production and performance opportunities to indie musicians so that they can actively expand their music activities and grow.”
