KT&G (CEO: Bok In Baek) held commemorative ceremony for the 10th anniversary of the opening of ‘KT&G Imagination Festival Nonsan’ at the Imagination Festival Nonsan Arting Lounge on the 15th.
This event held under the name of ’10-years You’ was held as an opportunity to look back on the last 10 years of the Imagination Festival Nonsan for the visitors. With attendance of about 10 persons in consideration of the current COVID-19 pandemic situations, the event was proceeded with presentation of plaque of gratitude to the interested parties of the region and delivery of donations to the neighboring regions.
‘Imagination Festival Nonsan’, which was opened in Jun 2011, is a experiential type of a cultural venue established by remodeling Hancheon Elementary School closed in 1992. Currently, facilities including ‘Art Camping Village’ where visitors can enjoy cultural experiences along with camping and ‘Arting Lounge’ for enjoyment of leisurely time, reading books, etc.
Over the last 10 years, Imagination Festival Nonsan operated a total of more than 1,800 cultural and arts programs including ‘Art Camping Day’ that harmonized cultural and arts performances with camping and ‘Norbit Market’ (flea market) aimed at assisting with self-sufficiency of farmers in the region. Currently, untact programs such as provision of arts experiences and lectures on future career path for the alienated classes in the local community, etc. are being operated in consideration of the COVID-19 pandemic situations.
Yeong A Shim, the manager of Social Contribution Office of KT&G, disclosed that, “Imagination Festival Nonsan has established itself as an undisputed tourist attraction in the region with the total accumulated number of visitors nearing 670,000 since its opening,” and that, “we shall continue to put our utmost efforts to make contributions towards expansion of the foundation for advancement of local cultures in the future.”
Meanwhile, KT&G successively opened Imagination Festivals as a composite cultural venue in Nonsan, Chuncheon, Daechi and Busan, etc. following the opening of ‘Imagination Festival Hongdae’ in 2007. Through these venues, KT&G is providing broad range of opportunities to the public to share and enjoy cultures as well as making contributions towards the establishment of sound cultural and arts ecosystem by means of operation of diversified programs including performances, exhibitions, festivals, experiences, and cultural and art education, etc.
