KT&G
(President Baek, Bok-In) was selected as one of this year’s ‘Best Company in
practicing work & life balance’ at the ‘5th Work·life Balance Conference’
hosted by the Ministry of Employment and Labor on the 24th.
As a
part of the ‘Work·life balance campaign’ hosted by the Ministry of Employment
and Labor, ‘Best Company in practicing work & life balance,’ which
celebrated its fourth year this year, is a project that selects companies that
have pioneered in improving working environments and consequently brought
positive effects to creation of jobs. Companies are selected based on
quantitative indexes of the Ministry of Employment and Labor and qualitative
company evaluation data from Job Planet. This year, companies’ ability to
manage working environments in difficult circumstances such as COVID-19 were
also evaluated.
KT&G
was highly recognized for its flexible working environment and for providing
various benefits package to employees. Flexible working system is represented
by staggered work shifts, flexible time system, and compensatory time policy.
Staggered work shifts permitting voluntary changes with no core time allows
employees to freely utilize them when individual emergencies occur. The
flexible time system also puts voluntary choice as priority and is actively
being used in various situations from personal reasons such as childcare and
long commutes to personal studies, work efficiency, and more. Actual
effectiveness of all flexible working policies including compensatory time
policy was increased through the e-HR systematization, shifting from needing
approval of the head of the department to simple confirmation.
KT&G
is also working hard to establish a paid leave of absence and vacation to
support employees seeking self-improvement. Various leave of absence policies
such as the C&C (Challenge & Change) for self-development, venture team
leave of absence for aiding foundation of venture teams, career change support
leave of absence, childcare leave of absence, and vacation for refreshment have
been implemented.
President
Baek, Bok-in of KT&G, has made “Communication and Empathy” a part of the
company’s management philosophy to improve working environments, and has
introduced policy designed for work & life balance that reflects opinions
of workers by putting together a specialized division “‘Communication and
empathy department” and “Imagination Realization Committee” composed of 2030
young generation.
A
representative of KT&G explained, “the core purpose of the work & life
balance system in KT&G is to have employees freely use of the system,” and added,
“KT&G will further develop a better working environment and serve as a
model to the society though actions such as creating more jobs as the ‘Best company
in practicing work & life balance.’”
