The
KT&G Welfare Foundation (Chairman of the Board Kwak Young-gyun) held a
compact car delivery ceremony on the October 8 at the Seoul Racehorse Park in
Gwacheon, with 200 persons related to social welfare agencies and Kim Dae-yeol,
the chair of Holt Children’s Services, in attendance.
The KT&G Welfare Foundation, adopting the opinion of people working in the
field of social welfare that with the nature of the areas where welfare
benefits are received, compact cars that can go through narrow alleys are the
most wanted, has provided 100 cars to the nationwide social welfare agencies every
year since 2004, and the total number of cars provided up to this year reaches
1,000.
The 100 agencies that will receive the cars were selected
through fair screening from 804 social welfare agencies across the country that
have applied for them since June 17.
At this delivery ceremony, a
performance of embarking on an expedition of love with a surprise announcement
about the 1,000th car to be provided was held, and cutting a large
rice cake was performed in celebration of the 10th anniversary with
the representatives who were present. A KT&G Welfare Foundation official
gave his thoughts, saying, “We hope the
compact cars that have been provided so far will tremendously help social
workers who work hard for the underprivileged to perform their duties in the
face of poor working conditions.”
