The
BOHEM CIGAR MINI, which is the world’s first super-slim cigarette wrapped in
cigarette paper containing cigar leaf, has exceeded the sales volume mark of five
hundreds million cigarettes on the domestic market.
KT&G (CEO Min Young-jin) disclosed that as of last
September 25, the cumulative domestic sales volume of BOHEM CIGAR MINI reached five
hundreds million cigarettes in just eight months after its release, which
represented the highest figure for a super-slim cigarette recently released in the
domestic market.
BOHEM CIGAR MINI has realized a cigar’s distinctive,
gratifying feeling through the use of cigar leaf of South American origin for
20% of its raw material leaf tobacco, and since its release last January 44
million cigarettes were sold in just three weeks, enough to receive consumer
attention.
In particular, this product stands out to prove KT&G’s
original and differentiated technical capability, and the cigar wrapping method,
which involves rolling up a cigarette in cigarette paper containing cigar leaf,
has been applied to this super-slim cigarette for the first time in the world.
KT&G brand team leader Kwon
Min-seok said, “With its refined pack design and
distinctive flavor from cigar leaves, it is getting a favorable consumer
response,” adding that “it
maintains a 5% market share in areas such as university campuses where young
people are concentrated, and with its high repurchase rate, sales are expected
to increase continuously.”
