On June 17th, the first season of the global volunteer group,
“KT&G Impact Makers”, composed of foreign employees from overseas business
sites of KT&G (CEO Bang Kyung-man), held a summer kimchi-making volunteer
activity at the Sangdo Social Welfare Center in Seoul.
The Impact Makers is a global volunteer group
launched to embody the commitment of KT&G as a “global corporate citizen”
and to generate social value. It consists of 25 foreign employees working
within KT&G’s Asia-Pacific and Eurasia CIC (Company-In-Company, an
independent in-house unit).
To celebrate the launch of the inaugural
season, around 40 participants—including foreign members visiting Korea and
domestic employees—gathered and began their first activity by preparing kimchi
to support marginalized communities. The group prepared and packaged 1,000
kilograms of napa cabbage kimchi, which will be delivered to about 100
vulnerable households in the local area.
Moreover, from June 15th to 20th, KT&G
provided the members of Impact Makers with opportunities to explore domestic
and global CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) initiatives and deepen their
understanding of the company’s broader social contribution efforts.
Going forward, KT&G plans to continue
collaborating with Impact Makers to identify CSR themes and explore actionable
ways to address social challenges both at home and abroad, thereby further
spreading positive impact.
Jang Ho-yeon, Head of KT&G’s Social Contribution
Division, stated, “It is a meaningful opportunity to work alongside foreign
employees from our global operations to support marginalized communities. With
the members of Impact Makers, we will continue to implement tangible social
contribution activities and create social value together, both in Korea and
overseas.”
began their social contribution activities in full swing.
