KT&G
(CEO Min Young-jin) is exhibiting the collections of 21 photographers who
participated in the support program for Korean photographers (KT&G
Sangsangmadang Korean Photographer's Fellowship; KT&G SKOPF) until September
29 at the Hongdae KT&G Sangsang Madang.
KT&G has operated the support program for Korean
photographers since 2008 with the aim of discovering and providing support to
young photographers who will lead the Korean photography world. This exhibition
was prepared to gather in one place original works by the next-generation
photographers who have applied with their works so far in order to present them
to visitors, and to get an overview of the topographic map of the Korean
photography world through major historical photographs taken in the late 2000s.
In addition to the exhibition of the works, KT&G also
have an opening party to provide opportunities for the photographers to have exchanges
with each other and to hold an open workshop where visitors can have a direct,
face-to-face talk with photographers.
KT&G Social Contribution Manager Lee Eung-chul said, “We have held this exhibition to celebrate the sixth anniversary
of the opening of the KT&G Sangsang Madang,” adding
that “it will be a meaningful place to see the changing
trends in the Korean photography world at a glance.”
Since 2007, KT&G has operated
the combined cultural space KT&G Sangsang Madang and discovered young
amateur artists through continued support in the field of non-mainstream
culture and art, while providing the public with a wide range of opportunities
to enjoy culture.
