KT&G (CEO Bang Kyung-man) participated in the 22nd
Yoon Kyung CEO Pledge Ceremony, organized by the Institute for Industrial
Policy Studies (IPS) and the Seoul School of Integrated Sciences &
Technologies (aSSIST), and hosted by the Yoon Kyung Forum, pledging to actively
uphold ethical management.
The ceremony took place at the aSSIST Finland Tower in
Seodaemun-gu, Seoul, under the theme “Ethical Competitiveness Creates Shared
Value.” A total of 120 representatives from businesses, social organizations,
and academia, including Sung Jong-hoon, head of KT&G’s Compliance
Management Center, attended the event to reaffirm their commitment to ethical
practices.
KT&G has designated June 2 as “KT&G Corporate Ethics
Day” each year, during which the CEO delivers a company-wide message on ethical
management. The company has also integrated ethics into its core operations by
incorporating a “compliance and ethics management” indicator into its key
performance indicators (KPIs) to ensure the ethics code is reflected in
day-to-day business activities.
In addition, KT&G runs a dedicated channel on its website for reporting unethical behavior, enhances ethical awareness by having all employees come together for a “Ethics Practice Pledge” annually, and includes “Special Terms and Conditions for Ethical Practice” in contracts with business partners to encourage their compliance with ethical standards.
“Ethical management is the starting point for a company’s
sustainable future growth,” said Sung Jong-hoon, head of KT&G’s Compliance
Management Center. “We will continue to uphold ethical management practices
that meet global standards and fulfill our responsibilities as a global
corporate citizen.”
