KT&G SangSang Madang Busan is now accepting applications for
this year’s Indie On Spotlight 6 program, an initiative aimed at discovering
and supporting up-and-coming local musicians, until May 2, 2025.
Indie On Spotlight is a Busan-based mentorship and performance
opportunity program aimed at fostering emerging musicians. Since 2021, it has
partnered with Music Lab Busan to offer this program annually.
Eligibility for this year’s Indie On Spotlight 6 includes
individuals or groups based in Busan, with less than five years of music
experience and at least three original songs. Following a document screening,
two groups will be selected based on strict criteria such as popularity
potential, originality, and growth potential.
The final selected groups will receive not only operation funding
but also hands-on mentoring from the five-member band Broken Valentine,
including guidance on songwriting, composition, and performance preparation.
They will also perform together with their mentor artists at a joint concert on
Jun. 21 at KT&G SangSang Madang Busan Live Hall.
KT&G Performance Manager Kim Cheon-beom stated, “We hope that
through Indie On Spotlight 6, emerging musicians can grow further by receiving
practical help and sharing the stage with experienced artists.” He added, “We
plan to continue using the infrastructure of SangSang Madang to contribute to
the development of the domestic music industry.”
KT&G SangSang Madang serves as a multifaceted cultural and
artistic space, supporting the creative activities of emerging artists while
offering diverse cultural experiences to the public. Since opening its first
venue in Hongdae in 2007, the platform has expanded to five locations,
including Nonsan, Chuncheon, Daechi, and Busan, contributing to the development
of local arts and culture as well as the broadening of artistic and cultural
engagement. KT&G SangSang Madang attracts around 3.1 million visitors annually
and hosts over 3,000 artistic and cultural programs every year.
