KT&G
(CEO Min Young-jin) is to release on September 4 THIS AFRICA, which contains leaf
tobacco that is smoked and dried in the traditional African style.
For most leaf tobacco, a heat-drying method is used, but
leaf tobacco dried using smoke is a raw material with a high scarcity value,
only 1% of which is produced in the world, and is used primarily for
high-quality pipe tobacco. In particular, the leaf tobacco used in This Africa has
been smoked with local wood, so its distinctive aroma of deliciousness and
sweetness lingers.
The pack design was completed in collaboration with the
famous British illustrator Papaboule and the specialized street fashion
magazine “Cracker Your Wardrobe.” On the outer surface of the pack, the
manufacturing method of smoking is expressed connotatively and wittily, and on
the paper inside the pack and the filter, camouflage (a zebra-print pattern) has
been applied to make it look refined and luxurious.
KT&G brand team leader Park Seong-sik said, “This
Africa has realized its deliciousness and distinctive flavor, which cannot be
experienced from the existing products, using leaf tobacco made in the
traditional process of the local African community,” adding that “also, consumers will be able to enjoy it
with greater satisfaction with its space filter that does not easily become
soft.”
This Africa contains 5.0mg tar and 0.50mg nicotine. The
price is₩2,500 per pack.
