Starting Apr. 4, the scholarship for university students will
be open to currently enrolled undergraduate students in Korea who receive basic
living support, members of lower-income families, or children of such
households. Applicants can submit their forms via the KT&G Scholarship
Foundation website until Apr. 21, 2025. The foundation will select a total
of 200 beneficiaries to provide up to ₩3 million to each student.
Starting Apr. 28, the foundation will also accept applications
from middle and high school students from economically vulnerable backgrounds
with recommendations from their school teachers. The foundation will select 450
beneficiaries, supporting up to ₩1 million annually for middle school students
and ₩2 million for high school students. The scholarship will be provided for
up to three years, as each beneficiary will undergo eligibility reviews on a
yearly basis. Full details and application guidelines are available on the
KT&G Scholarship Foundation website.
KT&G Scholarship Foundation Secretary General Ahn Hong-pil
stated, “We are committed to offering various scholarship programs so that
promising youths from underprivileged backgrounds can pursue their dreams in a
stable and nurturing environment. We will continue to invest in nurturing the
next generation of talent who will lead the future.”
Established in 2008 as a public interest corporation to fulfill
KT&G’s philosophy of being a “righteous company,” the foundation has
carried out a wide range of domestic and international scholarship programs to
support educationally isolated communities and foster future leaders.
Additionally, the foundation selects and supports students in the cultural and
artistic fields each year in partnership with the Korea Mecenat Association,
contributing to the discovery of talented young artists. As of the end of last
year, a total of 12,647 students have benefited from KT&G’s scholarship
programs since the foundation’s establishment.
