On the 14th, the KT&G
Scholarship Foundation opened the "KT&G Scholarship Foundation Korean
Center" in collaboration with Almaty Management University in Kazakhstan,
located in Central Asia.
The opening ceremony was attended
by Ahn Hong-pil, Secretary General of the KT&G Scholarship Foundation,
Gulnara Kurenkeyeva, President of Almaty Management University, and
approximately 50 key stakeholders.
The KT&G Scholarship
Foundation Korean Center is an expansion and reorganization of the KT&G
Korean Language Institute, which was established in Kazakhstan in 2023. The new
center is housed within the Almaty Management University building. In addition
to Korean language education, the KT&G Scholarship Foundation plans to
conduct language research at the Korean Center, including the development of
teaching methods and strategies for spreading the Korean language. This
initiative aims to foster cultural exchange between Korea and Kazakhstan.
Ahn Hong-pil, Secretary General of
the KT&G Scholarship Foundation, stated, “The Foundation has consistently
carried out scholarship programs to nurture talent not only in Korea but also
in various countries, including Kazakhstan and Indonesia.” He added, “Through
the Korean Center in Kazakhstan, we will continue to cultivate skilled global
talents who will play a leading role in promoting exchanges and friendship
between the two countries.”
Meanwhile, the KT&G
Scholarship Foundation continues to expand its overseas scholarship programs.
The foundation operates the Global Scholarship Program, which selects
outstanding local talents and provides educational opportunities in countries
including Indonesia, Russia, Türkiye, and Kazakhstan. As of last year, more
than 1,500 students have benefited from the foundation’s scholarship programs.
