KT&G Sangsangmadang Launches the "16th KT&G SKOPF" to Support Korean Photographers 2025.03.14

KT&G Sangsangmadang is now accepting applications for the "16th KT&G Sangsangmadang Korean Photographer’s Fellowship (SKOPF)," a support program dedicated to Korean photographers, until April 3.

Now in its 16th year, KT&G SKOPF is an artist support program launched by KT&G Sangsangmadang in 2008 to discover and nurture emerging photographers. To date, it has supported a total of 51 artists and has become a gateway for aspiring photographers.

Applicants can submit the required documents, including an application form and portfolio, through the official KT&G Sangsangmadang website. The program consists of three rounds, evaluated by a panel of experts in culture and the arts. In May, three "Photographers of the Year" will be selected through an initial portfolio screening, a second-round work presentation, and an in-depth interview. The final "Photographer of the Year" will be chosen in December through an open portfolio screening.

The three "Photographers of the Year" will each receive KRW 7 million in support, including an activity grant, mentorship, and participation in a group exhibition. The final "Photographer of the Year" will receive KRW 9 million in support, along with additional benefits worth approximately KRW 40 million, including assistance for production, publication, and a solo exhibition.

“KT&G SKOPF is an artist support program dedicated to discovering emerging photographers who will shape the future of Korea’s photography scene,” said Kim Jeong-yun, Deputy Head of Exhibitions at KT&G's Cultural Contribution Department. “We will continue to support various fields of culture and arts to foster sustainable growth and nurture up-and-coming artists.”

Meanwhile, KT&G Sangsangmadang is a multifaceted cultural and artistic space, supporting the creative activities of emerging artists while offering diverse cultural experiences to the public. Since the launch of its first location in Hongdae in 2007, the platform has expanded to five locations, including Nonsan, Chuncheon, Daechi, and Busan, contributing to the development of regional culture and the broadening of cultural and artistic engagement. KT&G Sangsang Madang attracts around 3.1 million visitors annually and hosts over 3,000 cultural and artistic programs every year.
