KT&G
Sangsang Madang will hold an exhibition featuring the works of graduates from
the 15th cohort of the “KT&G SLAP” (Sangsang Madang Life-Art Photographers)
program at the Sangsang Madang Hongdae Gallery until March 30.
KT&G
SLAP is one of KT&G Sangsang Madang’s educational programs aimed at
fostering emerging photographers. Since its launch in 2008, the program has
fostered over 170 photographers. It provides a structured five-month curriculum
that includes fundamental photography theory, printing techniques, and in-depth
mentoring from professional photographers. Graduates of the program are also
given the opportunity to showcase their work in an exhibition at the Sangsang
Madang Hongdae Gallery.
The 15th
cohort of KT&G SLAP ran from September last year to January this year, with
photographers Kim Sung-soo and Kim Seung-goo, who were selected as
“Photographers of the Year” through KT&G’s photography support program
“KT&G SKOPF,” serving as mentors. In addition, the program featured a
special lecture by graphic designer Park Hyun-joo, a former KT&G SLAP
participant, as well as networking sessions with active photographers, further
enhancing the program’s curriculum.
Thirteen
graduates of the 15th cohort will make their debut with an exhibition titled “Things
from the Impossible Place.” The exhibition will present over 100 works that
creatively depict various subjects, including people, landscapes, and objects.
Kim
Jung-yoon, Exhibition Manager at KT&G’s Cultural Contribution Division,
said, “KT&G SLAP is designed to provide emerging photographers with a
comprehensive experience, from training to exhibition, over the course of five
months. Moving forward, we will continue to support and nurture new artists
through various cultural and arts education programs.”
KT&G
Sangsang Madang serves as a multifaceted cultural and artistic space,
supporting the creative activities of emerging artists while offering diverse
cultural experiences to the public. Since the launch of its first location in
Hongdae in 2007, the platform has expanded to five locations, including Nonsan,
Chuncheon, Daechi, and Busan, contributing to the development of regional
culture and the broadening of cultural and artistic engagement. KT&G
Sangsang Madang attracts around 3.1 million visitors annually and hosts more
than 3,000 cultural and artistic programs every year.
