The KT&G Scholarship Foundation provided the Korea Juvenile
Protection Association with the 2025 SangSang RESTART Scholarship on Thu,
Feb. 6 to support the healthy growth and social integration of at-risk
youth.
The SangSang RESTART Scholarship is a collaborative initiative
with the Korea Juvenile Protection Association, under the Ministry of Justice,
aimed at helping current and former juvenile detention center detainees who
demonstrate exemplary behavior achieve social independence. Since 2016, the
foundation has supported a total of 625 students through this program,
encouraging their growth.
The scholarship is granted for purposes such as preparing for the
GED, obtaining certifications, and covering living expenses. This year, 106
recipients have been selected to receive benefits.
KT&G Scholarship Foundation Secretary General Ahn Hong-pil
stated, "The SangSang RESTART Scholarship is a meaningful initiative that
gives hope to at-risk youth and helps them move toward a brighter future. We
will continue to extend a helping hand to ensure that these young individuals
can grow up in a stable environment and fulfill our social
responsibility."
Established in 2008, the foundation has long been undertaking
various scholarship programs both domestically and internationally to support
underprivileged students and foster future talent. Additionally, in partnership
with the Korea Mecenat Association, the foundation supports students in the
cultural and artistic fields each year, contributing to the discovery of young
artists. Since its establishment, the total number of scholarship recipients
has reached approximately 12,000.
