752 KT&G SangSang Madang Hosts Commemorative 80th Anniversary National Liberation Photo Exhibition 2025.01.07

KT&G SangSang Madang is hosting the photo exhibition Always Nuribom at the KT&G Daechi Gallery until February 27 to commemorate the 80th anniversary of Korea’s liberation.

The term nuribom is a pure Korean word that conveys the aspiration: “Let us all be individuals who nurture the world (nuri) with hope and positivity.” KT&G SangSang Madang planned this exhibition to revisit the significance of Korea's 80th anniversary of national liberation by showcasing Changdeokgung Palace, which, despite enduring damage and alterations during the Japanese occupation, upheld the resilient spirit of nuribom.

The exhibition features works by Kim Seong-su, an acclaimed photographer recognized as the Photographer of the Year at the 8th KT&G SKOPF and selected by the Museum Hanmi’s MH Talent Portfolio. Visitors can admire captivating black-and-white photographs of iconic structures within Changdeokgung Palace, such as Injeongjeon Hall and Nakseonjae Hall, as well as the Palace’s pavilion and secret garden. Admission to the exhibition is free.

In particular, a first-come, first-served event where visitors can receive New Year’s cards based on the artist’s works has been prepared to celebrate the exhibition’s launch. For more details on the exhibition, visit the KT&G SangSang Madang website (https://www.sangsangmadang.com).

An official from KT&G SangSang Madang stated, “We hope this photo exhibition will offer visitors a meaningful opportunity to reflect on the historical significance of Changdeokgung Palace and Korea's 80th anniversary of national liberation. We remain committed to presenting diverse programs supporting sustainable growth of the cultural and artistic fields.”

KT&G SangSang Madang serves as a multifaceted cultural and artistic space, supporting the creative activities of emerging artists while offering diverse cultural experiences to the public. Since the launch of its first location in Hongdae in 2007, the platform has expanded to five locations, including Nonsan, Chuncheon, Daechi, and Busan, contributing to the development of regional culture and the broadening of cultural and artistic engagement. KT&G SangSang Madang attracts around 3 million visitors annually and hosts over 3,000 cultural and artistic programs every year.
