On the 20th, the KT&G Scholarship Foundation, in collaboration with the KIST Future Foundation, held a scholarship certificate ceremony for scientific talents.
Kim Seung-taek, Chair of the KT&G Scholarship Foundation, and Kim Yong-jik, Chair of the KIST Future Foundation, along with other related officials, attended the event to encourage outstanding future industry leaders in the field of science and technology and to present them with scholarship certificates.
A total of 33 student researchers, both domestic and international, were selected as scholarship recipients this year, each receiving a scholarship certificate and funding. The scholarship committee at KIST chose master’s, doctoral, and integrated master’s-doctoral student researchers with exceptional academic and research achievements through a comprehensive evaluation of theses and research records. Among these recipients were international students from Belarus, Mongolia, Indonesia, Vietnam, Bangladesh, and China.
Since 2021, the KT&G Scholarship Foundation has annually supported scholarship programs for both domestic and international student researchers at KIST, having provided scholarships to a total of 124 students up to last year.
Kim Seung-taek, Chair of the KT&G Scholarship Foundation, stated, “We hope this scholarship will help outstanding individuals take another step toward their dreams,” adding, “We will continue to foster scientific talent through ongoing scholarship initiatives, contributing to nurturing global innovators who will drive change and progress in future societies.”
Meanwhile, the KT&G Scholarship Foundation is a public-benefit corporation founded in 2008 by KT&G to realize the company’s management philosophy of ‘growing together.’ For 16 years, the foundation has carried out scholarship projects, ensuring that excellent students do not abandon their studies for socio-economic reasons. Since its establishment, it has supported more than 10,000 students up to last year.
