KT&G Sangsang Madang Celebrates the Successful Completion of the ‘2024 Sangsang Festival Busan with Sangsang Univ’ 2024.10.25
KT&G (CEO Bang Kyeong-man) celebrated the successful completion of the ‘2024 Sangsang Festival Busan with Sangsang Univ.’ on October 26th. Under the theme of ‘univerCITY,’ the festival invited university students and received a hugely positive response to its contribution to the vitalization of Busan’s local culture and art scene.

The festival was hosted on the 25th and 26th at KT&G Sangsang Madang Busan, with free entry for all participants, and offered rich attractions and entertainment with performances, exhibitions, flea markets, and other diverse programs. Entertained by the global dance performance team ‘Animation Crew,’ ‘Crying Nut,’ the 1st-gen Korean band, ‘Mosshill,’ Busan’s iconic indie band, and other artists such as ‘Band Hugo,’ ‘Burningsoda,’ and ‘SynerGarette,’ the audience showed passionate responses and cheers at the festival.

The most notable aspect of this festival was the active participation of university students. University students threw themselves into preparation for the dance and band performances with the exhibition of sculptures,  media art,  even a flea market, fully expressing their talents and potential.

Shim Yeong-ah, the head of the ESG Management Division of KT&G, commented “We are thrilled to support the creative activities of young artists and make a contribution to the development of Busan’s regional art culture through this festival,” adding that “KT&G will continue to be the locals’ companion and create a warm cultural community.”

KT&G is a culture and art multiplex that supports emerging artists’ creative activities and provides the public with a wide range of cultural experiences. Having begun with the establishment of ‘Sangsang Madang Hongdae’ in 2007, it operates in five regions total, including Nonsan, Chuncheon, Daechi, and Busan, striving to broaden the scope of culture and art scenes and contribute to the development of the regional culture. About 3 million visitors visit Sangsang Madang every year, enjoying 3,000 cultural and art programs the organization offers.
