KT&G (CEO Kyung-man Bang) announced the winners of the '2024 Sangsang Blue Pavilion' competition, which involves creating sculptures from local waste to raise awareness about the severity of environmental pollution and the message of environmental conservation, and held an exhibition of these works.
The '2024 Sangsang Blue Pavilion' idea competition, planned by KT&G’s college student platform 'Sangsang Univ,' saw the participation of 236 teams of college and graduate students. After evaluations, 18 teams were finally selected and proceeded to create sculptures using materials such as used tires, discarded banners, etc.
The final assessment of the selected teams' works resulted in the 'Imyeonji (Hanyang University)' team winning the grand prize, while 'Paran (Sangmyung University)', 'Bluetooth (Catholic University)', 'M&m's (Kwangwoon University)', and 'S.E.P (Kyungsung University)' teams received the highest honors. 'GEERATION (Catholic Kwandong University)', 'Mutual Aid (Jeonnam University)', and 'Akitory (Keimyung University)' received excellence awards.
The awards ceremony for the eight winning teams took place on the 20th at Sangsang Madang Busan, and the winning works will be displayed at the 'KT&G Sangsang Madang Busan' gallery until the 27th to communicate the severity of environmental pollution and the message of environmental conservation.
Sim Young-ah, KT&G's Director of ESG Management, stated, “The 'KT&G Sangsang Blue Pavilion' provides college students with a meaningful time to ponder social issues,” and added, “We will continue to operate a variety of programs that enable young people to engage with and find solutions to community issues.”
Since its inception in 2010, 'Sangsang Univ' has been a platform supporting the growth of university students, with over one million participants to date. Through various programs like 'Sangsang Friends', 'Sangsang Marketing School', and 'Sangsang Blue Pavilion', it supports local youth culture and contributes to solving social issues. (End)
