KT&G Sangsang Madang Hongdae is operating the curated exhibition 'Pieces of Luck' by 'Hamang,' the artist selected for the '2023 Design Challenge,' on the second floor of the Design Square until November 10th.
The Design Challenge is a cultural contribution program operated by KT&G since 2013 to discover emerging designers, thereby contributing to the vitality of the design industry. The final selected artist is provided with a prize, goods production costs, and the opportunity to participate in a Sangsang Madang pop-up exhibition.
In this exhibition, artist Hamang presents over 30 types of goods featuring cute illustrations, including postcards, tumblers, laptop pouches, keyrings, and calendars. Additionally, an SNS visit verification event is held where participants can upload a photo of the exhibition on Instagram stories with the hashtag (@hamang_illust) to receive a gift.
A KT&G representative stated, “Sangsang Madang provides emerging designers through exhibitions the opportunity to produce goods using their illustrations and introduce them to consumers,” and added, “We will continue to plan various programs so that visitors to Sangsang Madang can encounter distinctive and unique brands.”
Meanwhile, KT&G Sangsang Madang supports the creative activities of emerging artists and provides a broad cultural experience to the public. Since the opening of 'Sangsang Madang Hongdae' in 2007, it has expanded to five locations, including Nonsan, Chuncheon, Daechi, and Busan, contributing to the expansion of cultural and artistic reach and the development of regional cultures. Sangsang Madang attracts approximately 3 million visitors annually and hosts around 3,000 cultural and artistic programs each year.
