KT&G (CEO Kyung-man Bang) will display excellent works selected from the '2024 Sangsang Blue Pavilion' competition, which involves creating sculptures from local waste, from October 20th to 27th at the KT&G Sangsang Madang Busan Gallery.

The 'Sangsang Blue Pavilion' is a program first introduced last year by Sangsang Univ, a college student participation platform operated by KT&G, designed to raise awareness of the severity of environmental pollution and the message of environmental conservation.

This year’s competition, themed 'Dreamweave: Building Dreams Together,' saw participation from 236 teams of college and graduate students nationwide. After a design review and presentation competition, 18 teams were ultimately selected. These teams then received professional mentoring and had the opportunity to create actual sculptures.

The works displayed are made from recycled materials such as used tires, steel structures, and discarded banners. After the exhibition concludes, the dismantled sculptures will be recycled again as materials for upcycling artworks.

Oh Hee-seung, Head of Sangsang Univ Operations at KT&G, stated, “The 'KT&G Sangsang Blue Pavilion' provides college students interested in architectural design with opportunities to express creative ideas and reflect on social issues together,” and added, “We will continue to offer diverse programs that encourage young people to engage with and ponder solutions to community issues.”

Since its inception in 2010, 'Sangsang Univ' has been a platform supporting the growth of university students, with over one million participants to date. Through various programs like 'Sangsang Friends', 'Sangsang Marketing School', and 'Sangsang Blue Pavilion', it supports local youth culture and contributes to solving social issues. (End)
