KT&G
(CEO Min Young-jin) is to sell three types of a limited version of The One with
a moisture adjustment function enhanced with hardwood charcoal coating paper
for about two weeks this summer.
The hardwood charcoal coating paper applied to this
product refers to domestic hardwood charcoal that is thinly coated on the paper
inside the cigarette packs. Its distinctive feature is that it retains the moisture
content essential to keep cigarette flavor to a certain extent even after the
pack is opened. KT&G has independently developed this technology and completed
a patent application for it.
In particular, the technology for manufacturing
cigarettes of Low Ignition Propensity known as Blue Band has been applied for
the first time in the nation’s history to the three types of The One released
this time. Blue Band technology increases the probability of a cigarette being
put out under certain conditions because the cigarette paper is coated with
special natural substances during the cigarette manufacturing process. KT&G
succeeded in developing this technology after three years of research effort.
KT&G The One team leader Kim Young-hun said, “The hardwood
charcoal coating paper helps prevent cigarettes from becoming soggy or dry in
the hot and humid summertime,” adding that “we
expect it will be very well received by consumers because it is not affected by
seasonal factors and allows them to enjoy the unique flavor of The One.”
The limited summer versions of
The One consist of The One Blue, The One Orange, and The One White, and the
nicotine and tar content are the same as the existing product. The price is ₩2,500 per pack.
