KT&G Delivers 390 Million KRW Donation to Ministry of Justice for Support of Underprivileged Community Reintegration 2024.07.11
KT&G (CEO Bang Kyung-man) delivered a donation of 393 million KRW to the Ministry of Justice on the 10th to support the social reintegration and treatment of legal protection targets.

The donation ceremony was held at the Ministry of Justice in Gwacheon Government Complex with the attendance of Kim Seung-taek, KT&G's Head of Sustainable Management Division, and Yoon Woong-jang, Director-General of the Crime Prevention Policy Bureau at the Ministry of Justice.

The donated funds will be used for various support projects. Primarily, it will be allocated to the housing improvement project for legal protection targets promoted by the Korea Rehabilitation Agency. This includes replacing old furniture, renovating houses, and installing study rooms for children to help them return to society healthily.

In addition, the funds will be used to establish and purchase books for libraries for juvenile detention centers, scholarship programs for at-risk youth including those released from juvenile detention centers, and improving the housing conditions of old youth independent living facilities. It is also expected to be used to create a sensory integration therapy room at the National Forensic Hospital under the Ministry of Justice.

Since 1998, KT&G has steadily donated funds to the Ministry of Justice for 27 years for the improvement of housing conditions for legal protection targets, crime prevention environmental improvements, emotional stability of at-risk youth, and job creation. The accumulated support amount totals 11.6 billion KRW.

A KT&G official said, “We are honored to participate in the Ministry of Justice’s Blind Spot Human Rights Protection activities,” and added, “We will continue to work with the Ministry of Justice to carry out customized social contribution programs for the underprivileged.”
