On the 21st, KT&G Sangsang Madang Busan held an awards ceremony to select outstanding works from the “4th ARTISTART” exhibition, aimed at supporting local emerging artists.
The ceremony took place at Sangsang Madang Busan with the presence of KT&G's Director of Social Contribution, Shim Young-Ah, and participating artists. Through the evaluation of cultural and arts experts from February 13th to 20th, eight out of a total of 86 exhibited works were chosen as outstanding, with “Some City: Supernova” by Kim Yu-Jin from Pusan National University winning the grand prize. The eight winning artists are awarded prize money and the opportunity to exhibit their works at the Sangsang Madang Daechi Gallery located in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, from April 29th to May 30th.
The 4th ARTISTART exhibition featured graduates from 10 local art colleges and was planned as a touring exhibition to provide broad exhibition opportunities for emerging artists. Initially, the exhibition was held at the KT&G Sangsang Madang Busan Gallery from January 23rd to March 2nd. It will continue to tour, including at the 3.15 Art Center in Changwon from March 6th to 24th, and at the Ulsan International Art Fair from June 13th to 16th.
Kim Jung-Yoon, head of the Exhibition Department at KT&G's Culture Contribution Division, stated, “Since 2021, the ARTISTART exhibition has annually provided art college graduates with the opportunity to display their works, supporting their first steps as artists. We will continue to support the sustainable development of the arts and culture sector and the nurturing of emerging artists.”
Meanwhile, KT&G Sangsangmadang is a multi-cultural art space that supports the creative activities of emerging artists and provides the public with a wide range of cultural experiences.
