2024.03.21
KT&G Sangsang Madang is recruiting participants for the "2024 My First Concert" until April 26th, aimed at discovering indie musicians and providing them with opportunities for growth.
Now in its 9th year, "My First Concert" is a music support project operated by KT&G Sangsang Madang since 2015 to aid the real growth of indie musicians. It selects promising indie musicians to support them in holding their first solo concerts.
This year's call for entries is open to indie musicians of any genre who have not yet had the experience of a solo concert in a venue with over 100 seats. Detailed information and the application method will be available from the 25th on the KT&G Sangsang Madang website (https://www.sangsangmadang.com) and the official Instagram (@ssmadang.official).
After a selection process involving document review and performance video evaluation, the final four teams will be awarded 2 million KRW each for concert production costs and the opportunity to hold a solo concert at the "KT&G Sangsang Madang Hongdae Live Hall." Additionally, support for profile video or photo shoots for their future activities will also be provided.
To date, a total of 43 teams, including ‘Silica Gel,‘ consecutive winners of the 20th and 21st Korean Music Awards, and EBS Hello Rookie winners ‘Jisokuri Club,‘ have held their first solo concerts at KT&G Sangsang Madang Hongdae through "My First Concert."
Kim Cheon-beom, head of the Performance Department at KT&G's Culture Contribution Division, stated, "Sangsang Madang has consistently supported the discovery and growth of promising indie musicians and will continue to provide substantial benefits, including performance opportunities, to present their stages to the public."
Meanwhile, KT&G Sangsang Madang is a multi-cultural art space that supports the creative activities of emerging artists and provides the public with a wide range of cultural experiences. Since launching "Sangsang Madang Hongdae" in 2007, it operates in five locations, including Nonsan, Chuncheon, Daechi, and Busan, contributing to the expansion of cultural arts and regional cultural development. Sangsang Madang welcomes approximately 3 million visitors annually, with over 3,000 cultural and artistic programs operated each year.
