KT&G (CEO Baek Bok-in) has donated approximately 120 million won to the Community Chest of Korea to support free meal services for our neighbors in need under the 'Love's Meal Sharing' program.
The 'Love's Meal Sharing' initiative is KT&G's ongoing effort since 2018 to support free meal services to improve the quality of life and ensure balanced nutrition for vulnerable populations. The cumulative donations have reached 790 million won, benefiting around 120,000 individuals. Additionally, the company has contributed to the community by donating a 'Hope Food Truck' in 2017 to 'Warm Fill Station,' a free meal service near Seoul Station, providing meals to neighbors in need.
On the 19th, KT&G hosted a donation ceremony at 'Warm Fill Station,' where employees and volunteers participated in a meal service activity. The company plans to support regular meal costs for the vulnerable populations at 'Warm Fill Station' and 'House of the Holy Mother' in Daejeon for the next year, with employees volunteering for meal services monthly.
The donation was made possible through the 'Sangsang Fund, ' created by voluntary contributions from KT&G employees. Launched in 2011, the 'Sangsang Fund' is a unique corporate social responsibility fund of KT&G, where employees voluntarily donate a portion of their monthly salary, and the company fills up the amount in a 'Matching Grant' format. The fund is used to support marginalized groups domestically and internationally and address urgent social issues.
A KT&G representative expressed, "We hope the efforts of our employees can provide some relief to our neighbors going through difficult times," adding, "The company will continue to actively engage in corporate social responsibility activities to spread the culture of sharing further."
In line with its management philosophy of 'Growing Together,' KT&G is committed to acting as a global corporate citizen, pursuing sustainable development for both the company and society, and engaging in various community contribution activities. In recognition of its continuous social contribution efforts, KT&G was awarded the Presidential Commendation in the social economy sector in 2021 and, in 2022, received the Presidential Commendation in the youth employment promotion category for its efforts in job creation through initiatives like the 'Sangsang Planet' youth startup platform and the 'Sangsang Startup Camp' social venture incubation program.
