2024.02.13
KT&G Sangsangmadang will publicly recruit works supported by the 5th Performance Challenge program aimed at activating performing arts culture until March 10th.
Through this edition of the Performance Challenge call for entries, KT&G Sangsangmadang plans to select up to 4 works. Selected works will receive free support, including the rental of the KT&G Sangsangmadang Daechi Art Hall venue, as well as sound and lighting equipment, from June 10th to July 7th. The rental period for selected works is one week each.
The Performance Challenge call for entries, now in its fifth edition, was initiated by KT&G Sangsangmadang in 2021 to contribute to the activation of domestic performing arts culture. Anyone involved in performing arts, including production companies, organizations, or students majoring in the field, can apply. Detailed information can be found on the KT&G Sangsangmadang website (https://www.sangsangmadang.com).
All four works selected last year successfully completed their performances at the KT&G Sangsangmadang Daechi Art Hall, and among them, "If I Were You" is scheduled to continue its performances at a theater in Daehangno.
Kim Cheon-beom, Head of the KT&G Cultural Contribution Department's Performance Division, stated, "KT&G Sangsangmadang has been discovering and supporting innovative and creative performance works through the Performance Challenge. In the future, we will continue to contribute to the activation of domestic performing arts culture by utilizing the infrastructure of Sangsangmadang to support creators' artistic activities."
Meanwhile, KT&G Sangsangmadang is a multipurpose cultural arts space that supports the creative activities of emerging artists and provides the public with a wide range of cultural experiences. Since its inception with Sangsangmadang Hongdae in 2007, it has operated in a total of five locations including Nonsan, Chuncheon, Daechi, and Busan, contributing to the expansion of cultural arts and the development of regional culture. Sangsangmadang receives approximately 3 million visitors annually, and around 3,000 cultural arts programs are conducted each year.
