KT&G (President Baek Bok-in) received the Presidential Commendation at the '2023 Crime Prevention Award' ceremony held on the 27th at the Gwacheon Government Complex.

Organized by the Ministry of Justice, this award ceremony honors institutions and individuals who have contributed to the establishment and development of law and order in South Korea. This year, KT&G is the only private company among the awardees. The company previously received a Presidential Commendation in 2018 for its contributions to promoting a culture of legal compliance.

Since 1998, KT&G has donated approximately 11.2 billion won to support the social reintegration of legally protected persons, treatment of patients in legal custody and improvement of conditions for medical staff, contributing to the creation of a safe and just South Korea.

Through its donations, the company has supported the improvement of living conditions for persons under legal protection by replacing old furniture and renovating homes. This initiative is part of a project run by the Korea Rehabilitation Agency, aimed at improving deteriorated living conditions to help former inmates and probationers reintegrate healthily into society.

Additionally, KT&G has funded psychological stabilization programs for patients and medical staff at the National Forensic Hospital. This includes creating horticultural therapy facilities and cultivation areas for horticultural crops, enhancing emotional stability for patients and nursing staff, and establishing a 'Snoezelen' space for sensory activities to aid in patients' mental and physical well-being.

Furthermore, the company has supported the purchase of IT equipment like PCs and printers for facilities under the Ministry of Justice, contributing to the educational advancement, vocational training, and independent living support for legally protected persons.

A KT&G official stated, "For the past 25 years, the company has consistently donated to the Ministry of Justice, supporting the establishment of law and order in South Korea and the stable social reintegration of protected persons," and added, "We will continue to expand our tailored social contribution activities for those who are marginalized and facing difficulties."
