KT&G held 'The Debut' on the 23rd to share the achievements of the 7th graduates of the 'Sangsang Startup Camp', a youth entrepreneurship support program.

The Debut' is an event for young entrepreneurs who participated in 'Sangsang Startup Camp' to introduce their business models to investors and social venture officials and have opportunities to attract investment. This year, the event was held at KT&G Sangsang Planet, a space dedicated to youth startups located in Seongsu-dong, Seoul, with the participation of venture capital, social venture officials, and KT&G Group's new business managers.

At the event, 13 teams selected among the startups participating in the 7th ‘Sangsang Startup Camp’ presented their projects and achievements with expert evaluations. The top 6 teams with excellent evaluations at the performance presentation will receive KRW 40 million in prize money and the opportunity to move in for one year at Sangsang Planet. After the screening, a ‘meet-up’ event was held to allow open communication between startups and investors to facilitate investment attraction of business idea proposals by young entrepreneurs.

Lee Sang-Hak, head of KT&G's Sustainable Management Headquarters (Vice President), said, "We support the new beginnings and challenges of young entrepreneurs who have successfully completed the 7th 'Sangsang Startup.'" He added, "We will continue KT&G's unique youth entrepreneurship support activities, such as 'Sangsang Planet' and 'Sangsang Startup Camp,' to vitalize the startup ecosystem and spread a positive impact on local communities."

KT&G has been running the ‘Sangsang Startup Camp’ since 2017 to foster young entrepreneurs who want to solve social problems through business. It produced a total of 112 startup teams through ‘Sangsang Startup Camp’ until last year, which achieved cumulative sales of KRW 21.1 billion and created of 831 jobs.
