KT&G (CEO Baek Bok-in) is soliciting participants of the 2023 Band Discovery until April 28 to discover and support new independent musicians.

The Band Discovery, which marks its 15th anniversary this year, is a cultural program which KT&G Sangsang Madang has hosted since 2007 to discover and support new indie musicians with talents.

A total of 51 teams have been selected, and KT&G assisted them with practical benefits, such as the cash prize, the single album production costs, and the performance opportunities, so that they can develop into established musicians. A number of talented musicians have been produced through the contest including Thornapple, a famous four-member indie band, and The Vane, an alternative rock band, as the event has established itself as a gateway for new musicians.

This contest is open for new musicians who have at least three self-composed songs which can be searched online. The two teams finally selected through the document screening and the online contest will each receive prizes valued at five million won, including the cash prize and the album production cost, as well as opportunities to participate in joint performances with established musicians and performances planned by Sangsang Madang.
